Dish Network has announced that its Hopper with Sling whole-home HD DVR is now available nationwide. This DVR has built-in Sling capabilities to allow users to view their favorite content anywhere via the Dish Anywhere app. The app supports live and recorded home television content on Internet connected tablets and smartphones.
The Sling support is available to users for no additional cost. The app also supports Hopper Transfers allowing users to move recorded programs to the iPad for viewing without an Internet connection. That feature is a big deal for users who own iPads lacking mobile data plans or for users with a limited amount of mobile data.
The Hopper DVR was a CES Innovations 2013 Design and Engineering Award honoree and one the coveted Best of Show. However, the CNET award was taken away by CNET owner CBS because CBS and Dish Network are currently embroiled in a lawsuit.
