Apple’s iOS 11 will bring a wide range of new features to the iPhone and iPad and it will also make some new features available to developers.
At the moment Apple does not allow developers to have access to NFC on the iPhone, it is currently restricted to Apple Pay and Apple’s Passbook, this will change with the release of iOS 11.
Apple has revealed at WWDC 2017 that developers will be able to use the NFC chip in the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus with their apps.
“Your app can read tags to give users more information about their physical environment and the real-world objects in it. For example, your app might give users information about products they find in a store or exhibits they visit in a museum.
As soon as we get some more details on exactly what developers will be able to use NFC for on Apple’s iPhone in iOS 11, we will let you guys know.
