Makers and developers that create prototypes using 3D printers and sometimes require a little more strength within the parts that they have previously produced using PLA or ABS plastic.
Maybe interested in a new 3D printing filament unveiled by colorFabb this week which is reinforced with 20 percent carbon fibre content and takes the form of the new colorFabb XT-CF20.
colorFabb XT-CF20 provides a 3D printing material that is twice as stiff as PLA and offers a tough but not brittle filament for printers to use. ColorFabb XT-CF20 is available to pre-order via the colorFabb webshop from today with shipping expected to start towards the end of this month. colorFabb explains a little more about the new printing filament :
“A special point of attention is the abrasive nature of the carbon fibers. In general these fibers will accelerate the nozzle-wear of brass nozzles, much faster than unfilled filaments. There colorFabb recommends to use nozzle’s from Stainless steel or hardened copper alloys.
Just think of all the great applications for a variety industries, that now will have a material that performs according to expectations. Functionality, stiffness, dimensional stability, heat resistant, what more can you ask? Applications in the RC Industry / Drones / Aerospace / Automotive / Prototyping and many more can now be developed on your desktop 3D Printer.”
