Blackberry released BBM for iPhone and Android earlier this week. However, the experience for iPhone users is not as smooth for users who recently upgraded to iOS 7.0.3 on Tuesday. Several iOS users who upgraded to iOS 7.0.3 are reporting that the app crashes when you tap on a contact name under the Chats tab. Some of them are reporting that the application even crashes at startup as well.
Apparently, the problem is that Apple removed HelveticaNeue-Italic font in the recent iOS 7.0.3 update, which is being used by BBM. The folks at Blackberry are aware of the issue and mentioned that they are working on a fix that will be released very soon. The company didn’t give an exact date when users can expect the update to arrive, but we hope that it will be released soon.
In case you are looking for a temporary solution, just long press on a contact name under the Chats tab until a slide out bar appears on the right side. You’ll notice a trashcan icon in the bottom rigt corner of the screen that can be used to end the chat, tap on it. Tap on “End Chat” when the pop-up appears and you’re done. Just go to the Contacts tab now and tap on the contact’s name you want to talk to. Keep this thing in mind that it’s just a temporary fix.
We’ll update you as soon as Blackberry releases an update.
