The BlackBerry Key2 LE recently went up for pre-order in the US and now the handset is launching in India.
The device will be sold exclusively through Amazon in India and pre-order for the handset will start on the 12th of October.
Specifications and Features
The new Key2 LE comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor, which is known for its balance between performance and power efficiency. It features 4GB of RAM, ensuring smooth multitasking and app performance. Additionally, the device offers 64GB of internal storage, which should be ample for most users. However, for those who need more space, the handset also includes a microSD card slot, allowing for expandable storage.
The handset boasts a 4.5-inch display with a resolution of 1620 x 1080 pixels, providing clear and sharp visuals. One of the standout features of the Key2 LE is its physical QWERTY keyboard, a rarity in today’s smartphone market dominated by touchscreen devices. This keyboard not only offers tactile feedback but also includes customizable shortcuts for quick access to apps and functions.
Camera Capabilities
In terms of photography, the BlackBerry Key2 LE does not disappoint. It features a dual-camera setup on the rear, consisting of a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. This combination allows for depth-of-field effects, enabling users to capture stunning portrait shots with blurred backgrounds. The camera also supports various modes and features such as HDR, panorama, and phase detection autofocus, ensuring versatile and high-quality photography.
On the front, the device is equipped with an 8-megapixel camera, perfect for selfies and video calls. The front camera also supports features like face detection and beauty mode, enhancing the quality of your selfies.
Battery Life and Software
Battery life is another strong point of the Key2 LE. It comes with a 3000mAh battery, which, combined with the power-efficient Snapdragon 636 processor, should easily last a full day of moderate to heavy use. The device also supports Quick Charge 3.0, allowing for fast charging when you need to top up the battery quickly.
On the software front, the Key2 LE runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, with BlackBerry’s suite of security and productivity apps pre-installed. These include the BlackBerry Hub, which consolidates all your messages and notifications in one place, and DTEK, which provides real-time security monitoring and protection.
Pricing and Availability
The handset will retail for INR 29,990, which is about $405 at the current exchange rate. This pricing makes it a competitive option in the mid-range smartphone market, offering a unique blend of features that cater to both productivity-focused users and those who value security. In comparison, the US version of the Key2 LE costs $449, making the Indian pricing slightly more attractive.
Overall, the BlackBerry Key2 LE is a compelling choice for those who miss the tactile feedback of a physical keyboard and value the security features that BlackBerry is known for. With its launch in India, the device is set to attract a niche audience looking for a blend of productivity, security, and unique design.
