As well as announcing and officially confirming the 14 maps that will be available to enjoy when the next Call of Duty game Black Ops 4 launches in just over a week’s time, Activision has also revealed that a massive 50 GB day one update will need to be downloaded by those who have purchased the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 physical disc.
Day One Update Details
The day one update package is roughly 50 GB. Download speeds may vary based on region, platform, connection type, and the speed of your internet connection, explains Activision. Requiring 112 GB of free hard drive space to install correctly, the final installation footprint will take up 55 GB of storage afterwards. This means that players will need to ensure they have ample space on their hard drives before attempting to install the game. The large size of the update is indicative of the extensive content and features that Black Ops 4 promises to deliver.
The update must be installed completely in order to access Multiplayer, Zombies, and Specialist Headquarters. However, Black Ops 4 Blackout, the Battle Royale mode, is fully playable once installation is about 30 percent complete, approximately 16-20 GB. This allows players to jump into the action relatively quickly while the rest of the game continues to install in the background.
Game Modes and Features
Black Ops 4 introduces several new and returning game modes that are sure to excite fans of the series. The Multiplayer mode offers a variety of maps and game types, ensuring that there is something for every type of player. The Zombies mode, a fan favorite, returns with new storylines and characters, providing endless hours of cooperative gameplay. Specialist Headquarters offers a unique single-player experience where players can learn about the backstories of the game’s specialist characters.
One of the most anticipated features of Black Ops 4 is the Blackout mode. This Battle Royale mode pits players against each other in a massive, open-world environment. Players can choose to go solo, team up in duos, or form squads to outlast their opponents. The mode includes various vehicles, weapons, and equipment, adding layers of strategy and excitement to the gameplay.
