Modder Ben Heck has created a new Kinect motion controller glove, taking inspiration for the design from the Hollywood Minority Report movie, staring Tom Cruise. Watch the awesome video after the jump to see the design process in action and the finished working prototype in development.
The Ben Heck motioner controller glove has six degrees of motion control, together with gyroscope, making the design fairly advanced as a DIY project.
“Ben combines an Arduino-embedded processor and an accelerometer with a standard leather glove for an intuitive and precise way to navigate an Xbox 360 Kinect. Implementing a bit of programming know-how, Ben is able to wire up the glove using standard IR code and communication protocols to conveniently select games and movies on the console with simple arm and hand gestures.”
Unfortunately the Ben Heck Minority Report motion glove is just a concept at the moment, so isn’t available to purchase from stores. But in the future, the technology created by Hollywood in Minority Report be surely become closer to a mass market technology.
