Moto X was launched on AT&T few days back. The device was available for sale for $199 for the 16GB version while the 32GB version is available for $299 on-contract. Recently, Motorola announced that users can get their hands on Moto X directly from the Moto X website.
In the past, users had to buy the device from AT&T and enter the provided code on the Moto Maker website to begin the customization process. Starting today, users will be able to order the device directly through MotoMaker’s website. The device will be available on-contract for the above mentioned prices. Interestingly, you can also buy the device off-contract from the Moto Maker website for $579 and $629 for the 16GB and 32GB, respectively. However, do not that the off-contract device is still locked at AT&T.
I do think that it might be a bit pricey for the specifications it brings at the table as you can get your hands on many high-end devices in the similar price range.
There will be a small delay in the delivery process as well. Earlier, the company mentioned that the device will be shipped in 4 days after the order has been place but now, the estimated shipping time has been changed to 7 days.
I think it’s worth the wait if you can get your hands on the Moto X without any contract from AT&T. The device will launch on Verizon on 29 August for $199 with contract for the 16GB version but the Moto Maker customization will be exclusively available on AT&T.
Are you going to get yourself a Moto X off-contract?
