AT&T has announced that it will be offering unlimited data plans on its mobile network, although unlimited data will only be available if you also subscribe to the company’s DirecTV service.
In order to qualify for the unlimited data, you will also have to subscribe to either their AT&T U-Verse or AT&T DirecTV service.
AT&T is kicking off the New Year with a new unlimited wireless data offer for its new and existing TV subscribers who like watching their favorite videos and TV shows almost everywhere. Beginning tomorrow, new and existing AT&T consumer wireless customers who have or add AT&T DIRECTV® or AT&T U-Verse TV may get the new AT&T Unlimited Plan, offering customers more data to use for watching video, playing games and surfing the web on their mobile devices.
The new AT&T Unlimited Plan includes unlimited data and unlimited talk and text. Customers can get the AT&T Unlimited Plan on a smartphone for $100 per month. Additional smartphones are $40 per month each, and a fourth smartphone can be added at no additional cost.*
Details of the Unlimited Data Plan
The new AT&T Unlimited Plan is designed to cater to the growing demand for data, especially for those who consume a lot of video content. With the rise of streaming services and the increasing quality of video content, having an unlimited data plan can be a significant advantage. The plan includes unlimited data, talk, and text, making it a comprehensive package for heavy mobile users.
For a single smartphone, the plan costs $100 per month. If you have a family or multiple devices, additional smartphones can be added for $40 per month each. Interestingly, AT&T offers a fourth smartphone at no additional cost, making it an attractive option for families or groups of friends.
Benefits and Considerations
One of the primary benefits of this plan is the ability to stream video content without worrying about data limits. This is particularly beneficial for users who frequently use services like Netflix, Hulu, or YouTube. Additionally, the plan’s unlimited talk and text features ensure that you can stay connected without any additional charges.
However, it’s important to note that the unlimited data plan is only available to those who also subscribe to AT&T’s DirecTV or U-Verse services. This means that if you are not already a subscriber, you will need to consider the additional cost of these services. For some, this might be a deal-breaker, while for others, it could be a worthwhile investment given the benefits of having unlimited data.
Moreover, while the plan offers unlimited data, there may be some fine print to consider. For instance, AT&T may throttle data speeds after a certain usage threshold is reached, especially during peak times. This is a common practice among carriers to manage network congestion and ensure a consistent experience for all users.
AT&T’s new unlimited data plan is a compelling offer for those who are heavy data users and also subscribe to DirecTV or U-Verse. The plan’s pricing structure makes it an attractive option for families or groups with multiple devices. However, potential subscribers should carefully consider the additional costs associated with DirecTV or U-Verse subscriptions and be aware of any potential data throttling.
