Asus announced the new Transformer Pad 300 tablet back in February, and now the device has appeared online at a retailer in France with the 32GB model listed for 499 Euros, which works out at about $650, although US pricing has yet to be announced.
When it was announced, Asus also said they would offer a cheaper 16GB version of the Transformer Pad 300, and the guys over at the Verge have found out from retailer J&R that the 16GB version will retail for $379 in the US.
The Asus Transformer Pad 300 is powered by a NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor and it comes with a 10.1 inch IPS touchscreen display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels.
The tablet also comes with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage. The device features a plastic casing instead of the aluminum casing found on the Transformer Prime, plus a keyboard dock. It will be available with optional LTE and will come with the latest version of Google’s mobile OS, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Performance and Usability
The NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor in the Asus Transformer Pad 300 is a quad-core chip that promises robust performance for both everyday tasks and more demanding applications. This makes the tablet suitable for a variety of uses, from browsing the web and streaming videos to playing high-definition games. The 1GB of RAM ensures smooth multitasking, allowing users to switch between apps without significant lag.
The 10.1 inch IPS display offers vibrant colors and wide viewing angles, making it ideal for media consumption. Whether you’re watching movies, viewing photos, or reading e-books, the display quality enhances the overall user experience. The resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels provides clear and sharp images, although it may not be as high as some of the more premium tablets on the market.
Additional Features and Connectivity
One of the standout features of the Transformer Pad 300 is its optional LTE connectivity. This allows users to stay connected to the internet even when Wi-Fi is not available, making it a great option for those who need to work or stay connected on the go. The tablet also includes standard connectivity options such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS.
The keyboard dock is another notable feature, transforming the tablet into a more traditional laptop-like device. This is particularly useful for users who need to type documents or emails frequently. The dock also includes additional ports, expanding the tablet’s connectivity options.
The Transformer Pad 300 runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, which was the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system at the time of its release. This OS offers a range of features and improvements over previous versions, including a more intuitive user interface, better multitasking, and enhanced app management.
In terms of storage, the tablet comes with 16GB of built-in storage, which can be expanded via a microSD card slot. This provides ample space for apps, media, and documents, although users who require more storage may want to consider the 32GB model.
Overall, the Asus Transformer Pad 300 offers a compelling combination of performance, features, and connectivity options. Its competitive pricing makes it an attractive option for those looking for a versatile and capable tablet without breaking the bank.
