Archos has today announced that their new Android G9 tablet arriving in September, for a starting price of $300, will now come with the option to fit it with a 250GB hybrid drive for additional storage.
The base model Archos G9 tablet will come equipped with 8GB of storage and include SD card slots to add additional memory if required. However, if you feel the need for even more storage space, Archos has today announced the addition of a new option that allows you to upgrade to a 250GB hybrid drive. This hybrid drive combines a 250GB hard disk drive with a 4GB flash drive, providing a significant boost in storage capacity while maintaining efficient performance.
Enhanced Storage Options
The new 250GB upgrade option will be available on both the Archos G9 8-inch and 10-inch models, and will cost $370 and $470 respectively. This upgrade is particularly beneficial for users who plan to store large amounts of data, such as high-definition videos, extensive music libraries, or a vast collection of apps and games. The hybrid drive’s combination of HDD and flash storage ensures that frequently accessed data can be retrieved quickly, while less frequently used data is stored on the larger hard disk drive.
As expected, upgrading to the much bigger 250GB hybrid drive will add a little extra weight and size to your Archos G9. The weight will increase from 599g to 755g, and the thickness will increase from 14.7mm to 15.6mm. While these changes are noticeable, they are relatively minor considering the substantial increase in storage capacity.
Performance and Usability
The Archos G9 tablets are designed to offer a balance between performance and affordability. They come pre-installed with the Android operating system, providing access to a wide range of apps through the Google Play Store. The tablets are powered by a dual-core processor, ensuring smooth performance for everyday tasks such as web browsing, streaming videos, and running applications.
In addition to the storage upgrade, the Archos G9 tablets feature a high-resolution display, making them ideal for media consumption. The 8-inch model is perfect for users who prefer a more portable device, while the 10-inch model offers a larger screen for an enhanced viewing experience. Both models include HDMI output, allowing users to connect their tablet to a larger screen for presentations or watching movies.
Moreover, the inclusion of SD card slots means that users can further expand their storage capacity if needed. This flexibility makes the Archos G9 tablets a versatile choice for a wide range of users, from students and professionals to casual users who need a reliable and affordable tablet.
The hybrid drive technology used in the 250GB upgrade is particularly noteworthy. By combining the speed of flash storage with the capacity of a traditional hard disk drive, Archos has created a storage solution that offers the best of both worlds. This approach not only enhances the tablet’s performance but also ensures that users have ample space for all their digital content.
