Yesterday Apple announced their latest financial results, and they managed to sell more iPhones in the last quarter than they did the year before, although the number of devices sold included the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and iPhone 5.
Apple didn’t reveal how many iPhone 5 units they sold, and there have been reports that sales of the handset have not been as strong as previous device launches, Apple’s CEO Tim Cook talked about the iPhone 5 during yesterday’s earning call.
My view continues to be that iPhone 5 has the best display in the industry. We always strive to create the very best display. Some customers value large screen size. Others value other factors such as resolution, color quality, white balance, reflectivity, power consumption, compatibility of apps, and portability. Our competitors have made some significant tradeoffs in many of these areas to ship a larger display. We would not ship a larger display iPhone while these tradeoffs exist.
So from that we can guess that this years iPhone will feature the same size display as the iPhone 5, the handset is rumored to be called the iPhone 5S and will apparently feature the same design as the iPhone 5.
