New Features in macOS High Sierra
macOS High Sierra brings a host of new features and improvements to enhance the user experience. One of the most significant updates is the new Apple File System (APFS), which replaces the older HFS+ system. APFS is optimized for modern storage technologies and offers improved performance, security, and reliability.
Another notable feature is the enhanced graphics capabilities with Metal 2. Metal 2 provides developers with better tools for creating high-performance applications and games. It also supports machine learning, virtual reality, and external GPUs, making it a powerful tool for developers and creatives alike.
The Photos app has also received a significant update. It now includes new editing tools, improved organization features, and better integration with third-party apps. Users can now edit Live Photos, create more advanced slideshows, and enjoy a more streamlined interface.
Safari, Apple’s web browser, has been updated with new features aimed at improving user privacy and browsing experience. The new Intelligent Tracking Prevention feature uses machine learning to identify and block trackers, ensuring that your browsing history remains private. Safari also includes auto-play blocking, which prevents videos from playing automatically on websites.
Mail has also seen improvements, with a new split-view mode for composing emails and better search functionality. The Notes app now supports tables, making it easier to organize information.
The macOS High Sierra update also includes support for High-Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC), which allows for better video compression without sacrificing quality. This means that videos will take up less space on your device while maintaining high resolution.
For those who use iCloud, macOS High Sierra offers new features such as iCloud Drive file sharing, which allows you to share files with others directly from the Finder. Additionally, the new iCloud storage plans offer more space at a lower cost, making it easier to store and access your files from any device.
We will have more details about the new macOS High Sierra software when it is released on the 25th of September. Stay tuned for updates and in-depth reviews of the new features and improvements.
