Last week we heard rumors that the price of the iPhone XR could be reduced in Japan and now mobile carrier NTT Docomo has reduced the price of the handset on their contracts by around $100.
On a 24 month contract with the carrier the overall price of the handset over the life of the contract is now $100 cheaper than it was last week.
Other mobile carriers in Japan are expected to offer a similar price reduction of around $100, this would suggest that Apple has decided to reduce the price of the handset in Japan, although there is mo official announcement on this.
There has apparently been lower than expected demand for the iPhone XR in Japan and this is apparently what has led to Apple allowing the carriers to reduce the price of the handset. This is not expected to happen in other countries.
