Apple are launching the Apple Watch on the 24th of April, at the moment the only way to buy one is to pre-order its through Apple’s website of the Apple Store App.
If you had been expecting to head to the Apple Store on launch day on the 24th of April to pick up a new Apple Watch, it looks like Apple will not be selling the device from their store until June.
The news comes from Apple’s head of retail Angel Ahrendts who sent out a memo to retail store staff that customers will not be able to buy the Apple Watch on launch day and this is expected to continue through May.
Many of you have been getting questions asking if we will have the watch available in stores on April 24 for walk-in purchases. As we announced last week, due to high global interest combined with our initial supply, we are only taking orders online right now. I’ll have more updates as we get closer to in-store availability, but we expect this to continue through the month of May.
Apple has seen great demand for their new Apple Watch and the company is currently showing shipping dates of June for their new Smartwatch if you pre-order the device.
