Apple just announced its latest financial results for its fourth quarter of 2014, the company revealed how many iPhones, iPads and Macs it sold, this is something it will not be doing in the future with the Apple Watch.
Apple CEO, Tim Cook, said that the company will not be revealing individual sales number for the Apple Watch, instead the device will be put in a new category called ‘other products’.
The reason Apple are doing this, according to Tim Cook, is that they do not want to let their competitors know how many Apple Watch units they are selling.
“Our competitors are looking for it. And so aggregating it is helpful from that point of view as well,” he said.
Cook said the company may “decide something different” in the future.
So it looks like for at least the first few months after the launch of the Apple Watch, the company will not be revealing how many of the device they have sold.
Apple are expected to launch the Apple Watch early next year, the company has yet to give a specific release date, although it is rumored to launch before the end of quarter one, possibly some time in March.
