Following high demand for the gold iPhone 5S, Apple has reportedly instructed its suppliers to boost the productions of the gold iPhone 5S by one-third, as reported by WSJ. The gold iPhone 5S sold out within hours after the online orders went live in online Apple Store, with the shipments pushed back to October for all three storage options.
According to WSJ,
Apple Inc. has asked its suppliers to increase production of the gold-colored iPhone 5S by an additional one-third after seeing strong demand, people familiar with the situation said. It isn’t clear whether there are currently supply constraints manufacturing the new iPhone.
An Apple spokeswoman declined to comment.
All iPhone 5S models have seen a delay in the shipment. The Space Gray and Silver models are also showing shipment dates of 7-10 days, but it seems the demand for the gold iPhone 5S is high compared to other colors. It seems as if the iPhone 5S is far more popular among consumers compared to iPhone 5C.
In case you don’t know, in-store supplies of the gold iPhone 5S are said to be limited as well, with many carriers also delaying the shipment dates to as late as November.
