We have been hearing a lot about Apple’s iOS in the car over the last few months, Apple has now launched this new iOS feature and it is called CarPlay.
Apple CarPlay was launched today at the Geneva International Moto Show, and it brings a wide range of iOS features to your vehicle.
CarPlay can be controlled from the native interface in vehicles which support the feature, and brings things like Apple Maps, messages, the ability to control music and much more with voice controls or with the built in controls in certain vehicles.
“CarPlay has been designed from the ground up to provide drivers with an incredible experience using their iPhone in the car,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s vice president of iPhone and iOS Product Marketing. “iPhone users always want their content at their fingertips and CarPlay lets drivers use their iPhone in the car with minimized distraction. We have an amazing lineup of auto partners rolling out CarPlay, and we’re thrilled it will make its debut this week in Geneva.”
Apple has teamed up with a wide range of car manufacturers, and the first ones to launch the feature include Ferrari, Mercedes Benz and Volvo, who are showing off vehicles with CarPlay build in at Geneva this week.
A number of other manufacturers which include, BMW, Ford, GM, Honda, Jaguar, Land Rover, Hyundai, Peugeot, Citroen, Suzuki, Ford, Honda, Toyota and more will also launch vehicles this year with CarPlay integration.
