Apple recently apologized for slowing down older iPhones, the company did this on some of their handsets which had degraded batteries to stop the handset shutting down randomly. As you can imagine owners of older iPhones were less than pleased about this.
Apple decided to offer their customers a battery replacement on these iPhones at a lower cost, it normally costs $79 and Apple will offer it for just $29. Basically anyone with an iPhone 6 or above can get their battery replaced for $29.
Apple are now facing a number of lawsuits because they decided to slow down older iPhones, according to a recent report the company is facing a total of 26 lawsuits relating to this at the moment. These are the lawsuits in the US so far, Apple is also facing similar lawsuits in France and Israel.
These lawsuit are looking to get Apple to compensate the iPhone owners who had their handsets slowed down without their knowledge. This was introduced when Apple launched iOS 10.2.1 and iOS 11.2. It will be interesting to see what happens with all these lawsuits, it could end up costing Apple quite a bitmof money if the lawsuits are successful.
