The new Apple HomePod was due to go on sale next month, Apple has now decided to delay the launch of the device until 2018. Apple has now said that they will start shipping the device in early 2018, although they have not given a specific release date as yet.
The HomePod was made official at Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference back in June, the device comes with Apple’s voice activated assistant Siri built in. It can also be used as a HomeKit hub and of course as a speaker. You can see the official statement from Apple below.
We can’t wait for people to experience HomePod, Apple’s breakthrough wireless speaker for the home, but we need a little more time before it’s ready for our customers. We’ll start shipping in the US, UK and Australia in early 2018.
Previous rumors had suggested that supply of the HomePod could be limited at launch, Apple has obviously decided to wait until they have produced enough units of the device to out it on sale. The company is also probably concentrating on catching up with the demand for their new iPhone X smartphone.
As soon as we get some more information on the exact launch date of the new Apple HomePod, we will let you guys know.
