Apple has been working on producing its own original content, we have also heard that the company is buying content for its iTunes platform.According to a recent report, Apple are looking to buy the rights to the James Bond movies. Apple are not the only company interested, Amazon are also apparently looking into it.
Sony previously held the rights to the 007 movies but this deal expire in 2015 after the release of Spectre. James Bond was played by Daniel Craig in the last movie and he recently confirmed that he would return for the next one.
Apple and Amazon are apparently willing to spend a lot of money on the 007 franchise, this could end up leading to a bidding war between the two companies. MGM are also interested in purchasing the rights to the movies and have apparently been looking for a deal fro the latest two years.
Other companies including Sony, Universal and Fox are also interested in securing the movie rights to the James Bond movies. We have recently seen movie franchises go for a lot of money. Disney paid over $4 billion for the Star Wars franchise. Star Wars has been very popular for Disney and the company is expected to make a healthy profit on its investment.
This is one of the reasons why Apple and Amazon could see the 007 franchise as having a lot of potential. If either company is able to secure the right to the franchise then it could end up making them a lot of money.
