An Activision support representative has suggested that Activision maybe considering or has consider the possibility to close the PS3 Black Ops servers due to the problems reported by players.
User of the PS3 version of Black Ops is well aware of the problems facing the console version and a refund petition that was started last year had 8,800 signatures after just 5 weeks. With users complaining of frame rate issues, disconnects, lagging and hard freezes to name just a few.
Jason Koblovsky an independent journalist has been communicating with Activision support about the connection problems Black Ops has on Sony’s console and received this response.
Well I have nothing else to offer and I too follow forums and have many friends who play and enjoy the game for all of its features. As an avid gamer, I would also disagree with any legalities involving a single aspect of a game as online experience may change at any time. The publishers have the right to shut down the servers for their game at any time as well which based on the number of reported posts from users may be a viable solution over the free PSN.
Although Activision have not released anything official the above statement does suggest that they have considered pulling the plug due to the continuing problems. let hope the next patch fixes the issues and leaves the multiplayer side intact.
