
New Wave Toys based in Los Angeles, California have once again taken to Kickstarter to raise the required funds needed to bring their latest RepliCade arcade machine into production. Measuring just 12 inches tall the latest addition to their range is the mini Tempest Arcade Machine Replica, is now available to back via Kickstarter with early bird pledges for the first 1,500 backers available from $90 or £63, providing a $70 saving off the recommended retail price of $160. If all goes well, the mini Tempest Arcade Machine will start shipping out to backers during August 2018.
The regular arcade machine cabinets are constructed from word and include an accurately reproduced control system, complete with backlit LED marquee with authentic art and authentic metal coin door that opens to reveal a small storage compartment. For the RepliCade X Tempest Collector’s Edition, the Spinner and push buttons have been resized explains New Wave Toys, to coordinate with the 1/6 scale cabinet while “retaining a fully-functional and satisfying gameplay experience”. The arcade machines have a built-in rechargeable Lithium-ion battery and are fitted with 3.5” LCD full-colour screens, RepliCade high-performance chipset for smooth, lag-free gameplay, On/Off switch and volume control and are officially licensed by Atari.
