A new smartphone application called Carat has been released for both iOS and Android devices, which has been designed to help you manage your battery usage little more wisely. Carat allows you to monitor which of your application use the most battery juice and will even start recommending actions based on your smartphone usage.

The neat little application will also monitor your apps in use for bugs or strange processor usage that could indicate a bug or something else. Carat’s creators explain:
“Carat will tell you which apps it thinks are hogs (they use a lot of battery) and which are bugs (they use a lot of battery on your device but not most others). Being a hog or a bug does not make an app ‘bad’, but a user trying to improve their battery life can use these designations to adjust their behavior.”
Carat is now available to download from both the Apple iTunes app store and also the Google Play online Android app store for free.
