Wired and Gizmodo have joined forces to create an app guide for all the major types of smartphone and tablet platform including iOS, Android and Windows 7 and try and bring some order to apps.
The new guide includes reviews for 400 essential applications across all the major platforms and is now available in both hard copy and as an iOS app. The new Guide is organised into 7 categories including social, games, lifestyle, news, arts & entertainment, photography, and productivity details the most essential of applications in each.
Wired explains:
“From Angry Birds to Zite, mobile apps are redefining how we experience the world, whether we’re at work or play. But with hundreds of thousands of apps available, choosing the right software is becoming increasingly complicated. That’s where we come in. Our experts braved the app stores to search, download, test, crash, complain, and update—all so you don’t have to.”
The Wired App Guide is available today on newsstands, Wired.com, and of course, as an iPad edition for the Apple App Store for $5.99.
