HTC is one of the hardware partners for Windows Phone devices, but it’s been a long time since the Taiwanese OEM released a Windows Phone device. We did hear some news that HTC may launch a Windows Phone device.
It even mentioned by the well-informed @evleaks that HTC is working on a Windows Phone 8.1 powered handsets. According to a new rumor, HTC may launch a Windows Phone device, which may look like the gorgeous HTC One M8.
Evan Blass aka @evleaks said HTC One W8 will launch in the third quarter of 2014, and will land on Verizon. It will be powered by Windows Phone 8.1, and will come with the same Duo camera and BoomSound speakers as the original HTC One M8.
The latest report from Tom Warren of The Verge add more credence to the report. Recently, he said, “HTC is working on a Windows Phone version of the One. Should be out later this year.” According to Warren, it will launch later this year, but he didn’t say any exact release date.
It would be interesting to see how HTC will pull it off, if it’s real, and how will Windows Phone use the Duo camera feature on the device.
Let’s just take this rumor with a grain of salt as there’s no official word from the Taiwanese OEM. We’ll update you as soon as we get any more information about the Windows Phone device from the Taiwanese OEM.
