The first Windows Phone 8.1 powered handsets are already released in several global markets, but if you’re wondering about its roll out for the existing handsets, you glad to find out that it’s expected to roll out in the second week of July.
The news came from Microsoft India, who responded to a query from a Windows Phone user asking about the roll out.
“The Windows Phone 8.1 update will roll out to existing Windows Phone 8 users during the first two weeks of July,” Microsoft India said on Twitter.
This should come as a good news for all Windows Phone users, but do note that it could take a few weeks for the roll out to complete. Unfortunately, they didn’t mention which devices will get the update first, but if we were to guess, we’d say it will begin with the Lumia 925 and 1020, as well as the Lumia 520.
Windows Phone 8.1 is already rolling out in parts of Finland and Argentina, where Lumia 925 users are receiving the latest update, so don’t panic if your device is not among the first to get it.
Windows Phone 8.1 comes with several exciting features such as Action Center, Cortana, improved lock screen customization and much more.
We’ll keep an eye on the news and will update you as soon as we across anything.
