WhatsApp is one of the most popular cross-platform messaging service that is available on all major mobile platforms including iOS, Android, Windows Phone, and Blackberry. For those using Nokia Asha 501, there’s a piece of good news: WhatsApp will be available free of cost on your handsets, following an over-the-air software update that start to roll out this week.
The announcement came from the folks at Nokia Conversations, and should be treated as some good news by the Asha 501 users. I don’t think WhatsApp needs and introduction, but if you don’t know about it for any reason or if you were living in a jungle from the past few years with no internet access, WhatsApp is a cross-platform messaging service that allows users to message their friends and family over mobile data or WiFi. Users can share images, send messages, voice messages and much more.
People can download WhatsApp for the Nokia Asha 501 for free, following the over-the-air software update that will start to roll out this week. WhatsApp lets you message friends using your 2G or Wi-Fi connection, so you don’t pay SMS fees and keep costs as low as possible.
Back at Nokia World, Nokia unveiled their new Asha lineup, including Nokia Asha 500, 502 and 503, which will come pre-installed with WhatsApp.
