Makers, developers and enthusiasts looking for a precision, high-speed CNC mill capable of machining aluminium may be interested in the Vischio desktop CNC mill which has been launched via Kickstarter this week. Pledges are available to early bird backers from €2499 and worldwide delivery is expected to take place during August 2019 if the current funding campaign successfully raises the €35,000 required.

Watch the demonstration video below to learn more about the CNC milling machine which offers a 600 x 600 work area and is MACH3 USB interface aluminium milling capable. Its developer Valerio Vischio, based in Vicenza, Italy explains more about its inspiration, design and construction.
“I’m Valerio, i’m from Fara, Italy. I studied CNC machines tools in my school, and now i’m an IT technician. I’ve always had very high grades on my school’s workshop, on traditional lathes, milling machines but also a tiny CNC lathe, which i still love. I made a lot of pieces with that lathe, such as .50 bullets or mini-sized aluminium cup. The THR15 linear guide and 6 THR15 carriges with Nema17 motors are capable of high speed movement (up to 5000mm/min) and are very solid. I’ve used T8 trapezoidal lead screw with anti backlash nut. The stepper drivers are 4x TB6600 driven by Mach3 USB board. All the electronics is placed underneath the CNC. Please note that VISCHIO CNC with Mach3 needs a laptop with Windows 10 / 7 / XP to work. No virtual machine / parallel port is needed! ”
