China has been one of the fastest growing markets for new smartphones, and according to a recent report, China now has more than 700 million active smartphone users.
The news comes from a report from analytics firm Umeng, and covers the whole of 2013, in the last quarter of 2013, out of all of the smartphones sold, 43 percent were sold to people buying their first smartphone.
According to the report out of all of the smartphone sold in China last year, 57 percent were Android devices which cost less than $350.
Smartphones which cost more than $500 made up 27 percent of total smartphone sales, and 80 percent of these devices were iPhones.
Back in January of this year, Apple launched their iPhone with China’s largest mobile carrier, China Mobile, and it will be interesting to see how this affects smartphone sales in China in 2014.
