It looks like the OnePlus 5T is not capable of streaming HD content from steaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. This was recently discovered by OnePlus users Whatthefunk, who posted about it on the company’s forums.
The reason that the handset does not support HD content on streaming services like Amazon Prime and Netflix is because the device does not have the Widevine L1 Certification. This is needed for DRM protected streaming services.
The guys over at The Verge have confirmed that the content streamed on the handset in Amazon Prime Video and Netflix is SD content and not HD. The company has apparently confirmed that this is something that will be added to the handset later on.
The device is capable of streaming HD content in terms of its specifications, it features a 6 inch display with a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and a choice of 6GB or 8GB of RAM.
OnePlus have not confirmed as yet in when an update will be provided to the handset to enable HD streaming on both Netflix and Amazon Prime, as soon as we get some more information, we will let you guys know.
