When the first Apple TV launched, Apple and the late Steve Jobs called the device a ‘Hobby’, over the past few years the device has morphed from a hobby into a popular product line for Apple.
Apple are now getting ready to put into place the next part of their plan to change TV, the company will launch their new Apple TV at their iPhone 6S press event tomorrow.
Apple are also working on a new Apple TV Streaming service, which will offer people the chance to subscribe to TV content for a monthly fee, much like cable. This will, not be announced at Apple’s press event tomorrow, as Apple are still in discussions with the content providers and have yet to finalize deals for their new service.
The new Apple TV will get some major hardware upgrades and also some major software upgrades, the device is said to be running a modified version of Apple’s iOS 9.
The updated devices is rumored to come with Apple’s A8X processor, the device will also come with two storage options, 8GB and 16GB and it will feature a new design and also a new remote.
The new remote is said to come with a built in microphone, a track pad and also motion control, which will be used for many of the new software features on the device.
Siri will be part of Apple’s updated TV and it will be used for searching for TV shows and movies and also for controlling the device, this will apparently be one of the major new features on the device.
The other major new feature on the updated Apple TV is gaming, Apple apparently has big plans for gaming on the device and the new model will come with the ability to run apps as well as games. Apple will also release a new SDK for developers to create content for the device.
We heard recently that Apple is looking to take on dedicated gaming consoles with their new TV and we are expecting to see a number of games announced for the platform tomorrow, which have been in development with various developers.
Apple are also expected to announce some dedicated gaming controllers for the Apple TV, these will be sold separately from the device.
Prices will apparently start at $149 for the 8GB models and $199 for the 16GB model, we will have more details on Apple’s new TV set top box when it is made official at Apple’s press event tomorrow.
