Last week we heard that one of the major features on the new Apple TV would be gaming, as Apple will bring apps and games to the device with this years model.
Now according to a recent report by the New York Times, Apple may have big ambitions for gaming on the new Apple TV and could be looking to take on game consoles.
When I heard about gaming coming to the Apple TV, I though about the sort of games that you get on the iPhone and iPad, rather than on gaming consoles, so it looks like we could see some interesting games on the platform.
Along with the new Apple TV, the company will also release a new SDK, which will allow developers to create apps and games for the platform.
Apple has obviously been working with some developers for their launch of their new Apple TV and we can expect to see some new games, designed specifically for the device at Apple’s press event this week.
The update Apple TV is also rumored to have Siri built in and it will feature a new remote with a track pad and also motion control, it sounds like this new remote could be used for gaming, although we would expect to also see some dedicated game controllers announced with the device.
We will have more details when it is unveiled at Apple’s iPhone 6S event on Wednesday.
