Spark has this week started taking pre-orders for its new stamp sized hackable WiFi module which is available to for $19 and has been design edit add wireless connectivity to any projects with ease.
The Photon WiFi module is equipped with a STM32F205 ARM Cortex M3 microcontroller, and is supplied with everything you require to get your project connected by simply attaching a sensor or actuator.
Spark currently have 10,000 units availablel to pre-order and have already sold 3,623 at the writing of this article.
“Plug the Photon into any standard 0.1″ breadboard to hook up any of the 24 exposed pins using jumper wires. The Photon can also be plugged into many Photon-compatible accessories and kits, or soldered directly onto a circuit board.
The Photon is backwards compatible with the Spark Core, so if you’re one of the tens of thousands already building products with Spark, you’ll feel right at home. Most hardware and software designed for the Core will work with the Photon without modification.
The Photon is pre-certified so that it can be used safely around the world, even when included in a larger product or project.”
