Sony unveiled their latest flagship device, the Sony Xperia Z2, at the Mobile World Congress last month. The handset is expected to go on sale globally in mid-April, with a few markets getting it a little earlier, including Japan.
According to a new report, Sony will launch a deluxe edition of the Sony Xperia Z2 in China, alongside the standard version which will hit retail at the same time.
The deluxe edition of the Sony Xperia Z2 is bundled with a bunch of accessories, including DK36 Magnetic Charging Dock, a STM10 Stereo Microphone, a MDR-NC31EM Digital Noise Cancelling Headset, and a SCR10 Style Cover Stand. There’s no word if it there will be any other difference between the deluxe edition of the handset or if it will hit other global markets as well.
Features and Specifications
The Sony Xperia Z2 boasts a range of impressive features that make it a strong contender in the smartphone market. It comes with a 5.2-inch Full HD TRILUMINOS display, which offers vibrant colors and sharp images. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, coupled with 3GB of RAM, ensuring smooth performance and multitasking capabilities. Additionally, the Xperia Z2 includes a 20.7-megapixel rear camera with 4K video recording capabilities, making it an excellent choice for photography enthusiasts.
The handset also features a 3200mAh battery, which provides ample power to get through a full day of usage. It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, with Sony’s custom user interface layered on top. The Xperia Z2 is also water and dust resistant, with an IP58 rating, making it a durable option for those who need a rugged device.
Deluxe Edition Accessories
The deluxe edition of the Sony Xperia Z2 comes with several premium accessories that enhance the overall user experience. The DK36 Magnetic Charging Dock allows for easy and convenient charging without the need to open any port covers. The STM10 Stereo Microphone is perfect for those who want to capture high-quality audio, whether for video recording or voice memos.
The MDR-NC31EM Digital Noise Cancelling Headset is another standout accessory, providing an immersive audio experience by reducing ambient noise. This is particularly useful for commuters or those who frequently find themselves in noisy environments. Lastly, the SCR10 Style Cover Stand offers both protection and functionality, allowing users to prop up their device for hands-free viewing.
The Sony Xperia Z2 Deluxe Edition will cost 5,499 CNY (almost $884) while the normal Xperia costs 4,999 CNY (almost $800) in China. The handset should see the light of the day on March 27th in China, with sales beginning shortly after it.
Market Expectations and Availability
The launch of the Sony Xperia Z2 and its deluxe edition in China is a strategic move by Sony to capture a larger share of the competitive smartphone market. China is one of the largest smartphone markets in the world, and offering a deluxe edition with premium accessories could attract more consumers looking for a high-end device.
While there is no official word on whether the deluxe edition will be available in other global markets, it is likely that Sony will monitor the response in China before making any decisions. The inclusion of high-quality accessories in the deluxe edition could set a new standard for flagship devices, encouraging other manufacturers to follow suit.
