Now that the awesome Oculus Rift virtual reality headset that initially launched after a successful Kickstarter crowd funding campaign has been purchased by Facebook for $2 billion, new devices for experiencing virtual reality are surfacing every week.
One such device is the new prototype smartphone powered Vrizzmo virtual reality goggles which are currently under development and set to be launched priced at around €50.
When compared to the development kit cost of $350 for the Oculus Rift you can see that there is an emerging market for virtual reality goggles that harness the power of the smart phones in our pocket.
The beauty of buying something similar to the Vrizzmo virtual reality goggles is that the experience you can have is all relative to the power of your smartphone in your pocket, and no other expensive hardware is required to be upgraded. So as your smartphone upgrades so does your virtual reality experience. De JET Works CEO Dariusz Żołna explains a little more :
“The difference is very simple,”-“If you buy Oculus … after two years you have old device – you need to buy a new Oculus. But if you use something like this, it never gets old, because if you change your phone you upgrade your device – better resolution, better computing power.”
As the Vrizzmo headset is still in development at the current time, and no information on a release date has been announced as yet, but as soon as information comes to light we will keep you updated as always. In the mean time for more information on the new Vrizzmo virtual reality goggles jump over to the Vrizzmo website for details.
