Qualcomm has announced its latest mobile platform, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450, this is the latest mobile processor in the company’s Snapdragon 400 range.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 comes with around a 25 percent improvement over the Snapdragon 835 processor.
Enhanced Performance and Efficiency
The Snapdragon 450 is built on a 14nm FinFET process, which significantly enhances both performance and power efficiency. This advanced manufacturing technology allows the Snapdragon 450 to deliver superior performance while consuming less power, making it an ideal choice for mid-range smartphones and tablets. The processor features an octa-core ARM Cortex A53 CPU, which provides a clock speed of up to 1.8 GHz. This ensures that users can enjoy smooth multitasking and faster app loading times.
Improved Connectivity and Battery Life
One of the standout features of the Snapdragon 450 is its improved connectivity options. The processor includes an integrated X9 LTE modem, which supports download speeds of up to 300 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 150 Mbps. This ensures that users can enjoy faster internet browsing, seamless video streaming, and quicker downloads. Additionally, the Snapdragon 450 supports USB 3.0, which allows for faster data transfer between devices.
Battery life is another area where the Snapdragon 450 excels. Thanks to its power-efficient design, the processor offers up to four additional hours of usage time compared to its predecessors. This means that users can enjoy longer periods of gaming, video playback, and web browsing without needing to recharge their devices frequently.
“We’ve made many recent changes to the Snapdragon Mobile Platforms as part of our vision to deliver the most advanced mobile functionality at the best possible value, and the Snapdragon 450 Mobile Platform is another realization of that vision,” said Kedar Kondap, vice president, product management, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. “With the Snapdragon 450, users are going to see a dramatically improved level of performance, connectivity, battery life and imaging performance.”
To date, more than 1900 designs have launched or are in the pipeline across the Snapdragon 400 tier mobile platforms. The Snapdragon 450 is expected to begin commercial sampling to customers in Q3 2017, and is expected to be available in consumer devices by the end of 2017.
Enhanced Imaging and Multimedia Capabilities
The Snapdragon 450 also brings significant improvements in imaging and multimedia capabilities. It supports dual camera setups with up to 13 MP + 13 MP sensors, allowing for high-quality photos and advanced features such as bokeh effects. The processor also supports real-time bokeh, which enables users to capture professional-looking portrait photos with blurred backgrounds.
For video enthusiasts, the Snapdragon 450 offers enhanced video recording capabilities, including support for 1080p video capture at 60 frames per second. This ensures smooth and high-quality video recording, making it ideal for capturing memorable moments and creating content for social media platforms.
Enhanced Gaming Experience
Gamers will also benefit from the Snapdragon 450’s improved graphics performance. The processor features an Adreno 506 GPU, which delivers up to a 25 percent increase in graphics performance compared to its predecessor. This ensures that users can enjoy a more immersive and responsive gaming experience, with smoother graphics and faster frame rates.
In summary, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 is a significant upgrade over its predecessors, offering enhanced performance, improved connectivity, longer battery life, and advanced imaging capabilities. With its power-efficient design and support for the latest technologies, the Snapdragon 450 is set to become a popular choice for mid-range smartphones and tablets. Consumers can look forward to devices powered by the Snapdragon 450 hitting the market by the end of 2017.
