Earlier this month we heard that Apple has ordered 90 million iPhone 6 handsets from Foxconn, we also heard that TSMC had started production of the new Apple A8 processor for the iPhone 6.
Now according to a recent report, another of Apple’s manufacturing partners, Pegatron, will start production of the new iPhone 6 in quarter 2.
Pegatron is in the process of recruiting workers and opening a new production plant in China where the iPhone 6 will be produced. This move is part of Apple’s strategy to diversify its manufacturing partners to ensure a steady supply chain and mitigate risks associated with relying on a single manufacturer. Pegatron has been a key player in Apple’s supply chain for several years, and this new development further solidifies their partnership.
Production and Launch Timeline
So it looks like Apple will use both Pegatron and Foxconn for the production of the new iPhone 6. This dual-manufacturer approach is expected to help Apple meet the high demand for its new device. The iPhone 6 is rumored to launch sometime in September, aligning with Apple’s traditional fall release schedule. This timeline allows Apple to capitalize on the holiday shopping season, which is crucial for maximizing sales.
Along with the iPhone 6, we are also expecting Apple to launch their new Apple iWatch and the next major version of their mobile OS, Apple iOS 8. The iWatch is anticipated to be Apple’s entry into the wearable technology market, featuring health and fitness tracking capabilities, integration with iOS devices, and possibly even new biometric sensors.
iPhone 6 Features and Specifications
The iPhone 6 is expected to come with the new Apple A8 processor, which promises to deliver improved performance and energy efficiency compared to its predecessor, the A7. The A8 chip is likely to be built on a 20-nanometer process, allowing for better heat dissipation and longer battery life.
We have also heard that the device will come with a larger 4.7-inch display as opposed to the 4-inch display in the iPhone 5S. This larger screen size is expected to enhance the user experience, making it more suitable for multimedia consumption, gaming, and productivity tasks. Additionally, there are rumors of a second, even larger 5.5-inch model, which would cater to the growing demand for phablets.
Other anticipated features include an improved camera system, possibly with optical image stabilization, and enhanced low-light performance. The iPhone 6 may also include new sensors for measuring temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure, adding to its functionality as a versatile mobile device.
Apple iOS 8 is expected to bring a host of new features and improvements, including a revamped notification system, better integration with the iWatch, and new health-related apps and services. The combination of iOS 8 and the iPhone 6 is expected to offer a seamless and highly integrated user experience.
The upcoming launch of the iPhone 6, along with the new Apple iWatch and iOS 8, marks an exciting time for Apple and its customers. With multiple manufacturing partners like Pegatron and Foxconn, Apple is well-positioned to meet the high demand for its new products. The iPhone 6’s anticipated features, including the larger display and new A8 processor, are likely to make it a significant upgrade over previous models.
