If you are looking to upgrade your wheels to something a little more Titanium, Paul Budnitz has unveiled two Titanium bike models that will definitely make your ride a little more enjoyable, even though you might be $5,500 lighter on the financial side.
The two models named No.1 and No.2 have been designed for different riding conditions. With No.1 equipped with slick tires on 700c Velocity rims, together with a more upright position and harder gear ratios. Whereas No.2 is designed for a more laid-back ride with a larger wheel at the front and smaller at the back, lower gearing, and a set of sweep-back handlebars. (pictured below)
Design and Features
The Paul Budnitz Bicycles website explains a little more about the design of the Titanium components of the bikes:
“Paul Budnitz Bicycles trademark Cantilever Frames™ ,U™ and Half-Crown™ forks are stunning — and are designed to optimize each bicycle’s ride. The gentle split top-tube arc that characterizes all of our frames flexes in the right places, and is stiff in others.”
The use of Titanium in these bikes is not just for show. Titanium is known for its high strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance, and ability to absorb shocks, making it an ideal material for high-performance bicycles. The Cantilever Frames™ are designed to provide a balance between flexibility and rigidity, ensuring a smooth and efficient ride. The U™ and Half-Crown™ forks further enhance the bike’s performance by optimizing the handling and stability.
Performance and Versatility
Model No.1 is tailored for urban commuting and fast-paced rides. The slick tires on 700c Velocity rims offer minimal rolling resistance, making it easier to achieve higher speeds on paved roads. The upright riding position provides better visibility and comfort during long rides, while the harder gear ratios allow for efficient power transfer, making it ideal for city streets and bike lanes.
On the other hand, Model No.2 is designed for a more relaxed and versatile riding experience. The larger front wheel and smaller rear wheel configuration, combined with lower gearing, make it perfect for leisurely rides and tackling varied terrains. The sweep-back handlebars offer a more comfortable and ergonomic grip, reducing strain on the wrists and shoulders during extended rides.
Both models are equipped with high-quality components, including precision-machined hubs, sealed bearings, and custom-designed saddles, ensuring durability and reliability. The attention to detail in the design and construction of these bikes reflects Paul Budnitz’s commitment to creating exceptional bicycles that cater to different riding preferences and styles.
In addition to their performance features, the Titanium bikes from Paul Budnitz Bicycles also boast a sleek and minimalist aesthetic. The clean lines and polished finish of the Titanium frames give these bikes a timeless and sophisticated look, making them a statement piece for any cycling enthusiast.
