To help advertise the arrival of Overwatch on the Nintendo Switch handheld games console, Blizzard Entertainment have sponsored inventor and YouTube star Colin Furze to build a real-life working version of Junkrat’s RIP-tire. Check out the video below to learn more about the build process and see it in action smashing through a few panes of glass.
The real-life version of Junkrat’s RIP-tire weapon has been built using a chainsaw as a base together with a variety of custom components fabricated in Furze’s workshop. “I’ve Made a Real working RIP-TIRE, yes Junkrats back mounted weapon from Overwatch. Made from a chainsaw and some Furze magic, its good but I think we can go bigger on power and destruction so stay tuned for more.”
The Build Process
Colin Furze is known for his extraordinary and often outlandish inventions, and this project is no exception. The build process of Junkrat’s RIP-tire involved several stages, starting with the disassembly of a chainsaw to use its powerful engine. Furze then designed and fabricated a custom frame to house the engine and provide the necessary support for the tire. The tire itself was reinforced to withstand the high speeds and impacts it would encounter.
Furze also integrated a remote control system, allowing him to maneuver the RIP-tire from a safe distance. This system includes a receiver and transmitter, which communicate with the motor to control the tire’s speed and direction. The entire assembly was meticulously tested to ensure it could handle the rigorous demands of smashing through obstacles.
Future Enhancements
Although the remote-controlled version of Junkrat’s RIP-tire is already impressive, Furze is not one to rest on his laurels. He has hinted at future enhancements that could make the RIP-tire even more powerful and destructive. One potential upgrade could involve increasing the engine’s power, allowing the tire to reach higher speeds and deliver more force upon impact. Another possibility is the addition of more sophisticated control systems, which could provide greater precision and responsiveness.
Furze’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of his creations is evident in his willingness to continually improve and refine his designs. Fans of his work can look forward to seeing these enhancements in upcoming videos, where Furze will undoubtedly showcase the RIP-tire’s increased capabilities.
Although the remote controlled version of Junkrat’s RIP-tire is pretty awesome, Furze is hoping to make it even more devastating and will be posting a follow-up video in the coming weeks.
