Ouya the team behind the new open source Android games console which successfully launched on the Kickstarter crowdfunding website earlier this year. Has today announced that a new update has been released codenamed “Ogopogo” which brings with it a number of new improvements and enhancements to the Android games console.
The latest Ouya update brings with it the new External Storage feature which the development team have been busy creating and focusing on over the last few months. The new External Storage feature is still in its closed beta development stage at the moment but the inclusion in the latest update indicates that it is moving steadily closer to a public launch in a future update.
The new Oyua External Storage feature has been designed to provide the ability to play games and load games from external storage devices and USB drives. However the development team explains that due to the huge variety and range of different types of external storage currently on the market they felt it was wise to roll out the new Ouya External Storage support update in stages, gathering feedback from users as they do.
Other new features included in the latest Ouya update include video support, which now allows users to view and play videos on the game detail pages on the console. Together with the obligatory bug fixes and performance enhancements. For full details and to sign up for the Ouya External Storage closed beta testing phase jump over to the official Ouya website.
