Nokia and Microsoft are in the middle of completing their deal for Microsoft’s purchase of Nokia’s mobile phone division and their Lumia brand.
Microsoft have already taken over Nokia’s HQ in Finland, and a number of Nokia employees are already working with Microsoft on the next Lumia devices.
Nokia launched a number if Lumia devices in the US last year, the majority of these were some sort of exclusive with various carriers, with different models be available with different carriers.
This could be about to change when Microsoft takes over, and the next Lumia smartphone is expected to launch with all of the major carriers in the US at the same time.
The guys over at Fierce Wireless spoke to Nokia’s Executive Vice President of smart devices, Jo Harlow, who has said that in the future Lumia devices will launch on all carriers.
“That strategy has allowed us to grow with the individual operators,” she said. “There will be a point in time where it becomes more efficient for everyone to move to a single device that we’re all marketing. When is that point? I’m not sure yet.”
As yet there are no details on what the first Lumia smartphone that will bee available with all of the carriers, as soon as we get some more information, we will let you guys know.
