We recently saw a yet-to-be-announced smartphone from Nokia appearing in a Nokia promo video, and the device is rumored to be the new Nokia Lumia 900, which is expected to debut in the US next year.
US mobile carrier AT&T is rumored to be in discussions with Nokia about bringing Nokia Windows Phone devices to their US network, and now it would appear that the first device that will launch in the US is the Nokia Lumia 900.
Specifications and Features
According to a recent report from the BGR, the Nokia Lumia 900 will share many of the specifications of the recently launched Lumia 800, but this new device will feature a larger display. The Nokia Lumia 900 is expected to feature a 4.3 inch ClearBlack AMOLED display, which will offer vibrant colors and deep blacks, making it ideal for media consumption and gaming.
The device is also rumored to come with a single-core 1.4GHz processor, which, while not the most powerful by today’s standards, should be more than capable of handling everyday tasks and running the Windows Phone operating system smoothly. The Lumia 900 is also expected to feature an 8-megapixel camera, which will likely include Carl Zeiss optics, a hallmark of Nokia’s high-end smartphones, ensuring excellent photo quality.
Software and User Experience
One of the most exciting aspects of the Nokia Lumia 900 is that it may come with the new version of Microsoft’s mobile OS, Windows Phone Tango. Windows Phone Tango is expected to bring a range of improvements and new features to the platform, including better support for lower-end hardware, which could make the Lumia 900 more accessible to a broader audience.
The Windows Phone operating system is known for its unique and intuitive user interface, which features live tiles that provide real-time updates from your apps right on the home screen. This makes it easy to stay up-to-date with your social media, emails, and other important information at a glance.
Additionally, the Lumia 900 is expected to come with Nokia’s suite of exclusive apps, such as Nokia Drive for turn-by-turn navigation, Nokia Music for streaming music, and Nokia Maps for detailed mapping and location services. These apps add significant value to the device and help differentiate it from other Windows Phone devices on the market.
We could possibly see the Nokia Lumia 900 make its debut at CES 2012 in January, where Nokia is expected to showcase its latest innovations and products. If the rumors are true, the Lumia 900 could be a significant step forward for Nokia as it seeks to regain its position in the competitive smartphone market.
