If you already enjoy wireless charging or are looking forward to being able to charge your devices and gadgets wirelessly without the need to endlessly plug and unplug your them.
A new wireless charging solution has been developed by Freescale that is capable of charging devices with up to 15 Watts of power, similar to that provided by Qualcomm’s quick charging technology.
Current wireless charging technology available to purchase by consumers today, is only capable of creating 5 Watts of charging power, meaning that your devices will take a number of hours to fully charge from flat. However the new wireless charging will provide three times the power of current technology allowing them to be charged three times quicker.
Dennis Cabrol, Freescale’s Director of Global Marketing and Business Development, explains:
“Today’s mobile products offer a broader range of features, functionality and form factors than ever before, requiring developers of wireless charging systems to accommodate larger batteries and enable faster recharge speeds. Freescale’s industry-first 15 W solution is engineered to address these evolving market requirements, while helping to streamline product development and unleash design creativity.”
The new wireless charging technology is expected to be ready for device manufacturers to implement early next year and consumers could be benefiting from the new wireless charging technology as early as the middle of 2015. As always when more information becomes available about the new Freescale wireless charging technology we will keep you updated as always.
