Back in April we talked about a new 10,000 RPM 1 TB hard drive from Western Digital called the VelociRaptor. Western Digital has now taken a pair of those fast hard drives and put them inside of an external storage solution called the My Book VelociRaptor Duo. The drive supports both RAID 0 and 1.
The drive promises data transfer rates of up to 400 MB/s and uses the Thunderbolt port as an interface. The drive has two Thunderbolt ports allowing daisy chaining of devices. Western Digital is aiming the product at photographers, graphic designers, and post-production professionals. The large storage capacity and fast data transfer is perfect for those needs.
The drive comes out-of-the-box compatible with Apple Time Machine and HFS+ Journaled. The drive is far from cheap with an MSRP of $899.99. The blazing fast external storage solution is available to purchase right now.
