The Mozilla Flame, which is a Firefox OS reference phone is now available to pre-order, the handset retails for $170 unlocked, and this is the phone that is used by Mozilla to develop their Firefox OS and also build apps for the OS.
The Flame comes with Firefox OS 1.3 and it features a 4.5 inch FWVGA display with a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels, the device is powered by a dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8210 processor with a clock speed of 1.2GHz.
To standardize the design, development, and testing of Firefox OS, Mozilla has partnered with a company called T2Mobile to manufacture, distribute, and update a Firefox OS reference phone called the Flame. Until now, there has been no “reference device” and the options for getting something through retail were limited.
Other specifications on the Mozilla Flame include 8GB of built in storage and a choice of between 256MB or 1GB of adjustable RAM, the device also comes with front and rear facing cameras.
On the front of the Flame is a 2 megapixel camera, on the back of the device is a 5 megapixel camera with a flash and auto focus, the handset also comes with A-GPS and NFC.
The Mozilla Flame also comes with a dual SIM card slot, a 1,800 mAh battery, bluetooth 3.0, a microUSB port and 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, you can find out more details about the device over at Mozilla at the link below.
