If you are concerned about the amount of TV your family is watching, a new cloud connected device called MediaBit might be worth more investigation and a pledge.
MediaBit is currently in it prototype stage of development and has been designed to track your viewing habits and present them to you via your smartphone using its companion application.
The MediaBit tells you when the TV is on and how long it is on. Statistics are pushed to the MediaBit Website for you to chart. You can program the TV to turn off remotely using a smartphone or a web browser.
Parents, you may want to influence the amount of TV or video gaming your child is playing each day or each week. The MediaBit will allow You to monitor usage through an app on your smart phone anywhere, any time. You can even program the TV to turn off according to your schedule.
Your child is smart, right? We’ve accounted for that. MediaBit’s has a defense system, Tamper Detection! Let’s say little Johnny gets wise. He figures he’ll just unplug our Orwellian device. Well the MediaBit then sends a notification to your smart phone alerting you that the HDMI cables are disconnected or power is disabled. Tough love.
The MediaBit project is currently over on the Kickstarter crowd funding website looking to raise $6,500 in pledges to make the jump from concept to production.
So if you think MediaBit is something you could benefit from, visit the Kickstarter website now to make a pledge and help MediaBit become a reality.
