Earlier this week we heard a rumor that Facebook were looking to combine WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger into one platform, the apps would continue as different apps but they would all run on the same platform.
Now Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg has confirmed that this is something the company is looking at, although it will not happen until around 2020.
“The integration that we’re thinking about, we’re really early in thinking through this,” Zuckerberg said on the company’s Q4 earnings call. “There’s a lot more we need to figure out.”
Reports have suggested that having one platform for all of these apps would help Facebook target people with adverts, whether or not people would be happy with this remains to be seen. Since these news broke a number of regulators in various countries have voiced concerns over this.
