Smart bulb manufacturer LIFX is gearing up to launch new Apple HomeKit supported lighting in the form of the LIFX Candle bulb and LIFX TV light strip, both of which were unveiled earlier this year during CES 2019. The Candle Color will retail for $44.99 and the Z TV will be priced at $69.99. Like all other recent generation smart bulbs from LIFX the new arrivals will support HomeKit integration as well as wireless connectivity without the need for any additional bridge or hub.
Features and Specifications
The LIFX Candle Color and Z TV lighting will be available to purchase during October 2019 directly from the LIFX website and authorized resellers both online and on the high street. The Candle Color takes the form of a B40 candle light bulb and sports a smaller standard E14 Edison Screw fitting. This makes it ideal for chandeliers, wall sconces, and other fixtures that require a smaller bulb. The Z TV light strip, on the other hand, is designed to enhance your television viewing experience by providing ambient lighting that can sync with your on-screen content.
One of the standout features of the LIFX Candle Color is its ability to produce multiple colors simultaneously. This is achieved through LIFX’s Polychrome Technology, which allows different sections of the bulb to emit different colors at the same time. This feature can create stunning visual effects and is perfect for setting the mood in any room. The Z TV light strip also benefits from this technology, offering a dynamic range of colors that can be customized to suit your preferences.
Smart Home Integration
As with all LIFX smart bulbs, you will be able to control them using the smartphone companion application created in-house by LIFX and available for both Android and iOS devices. The app provides a user-friendly interface for managing your lighting, including options for scheduling, dimming, and color selection. Additionally, the new LIFX products are compatible with major smart home ecosystems, allowing you to integrate them with personal assistants from Google, Amazon, and of course, Apple Siri.
For those who are already invested in the Apple ecosystem, the HomeKit support is a significant advantage. It allows you to control your LIFX lights using the Apple Home app or Siri voice commands. For example, you can say, “Hey Siri, set the living room lights to blue,” and your LIFX Candle Color bulbs will respond accordingly. This seamless integration makes it easier than ever to create a smart home environment that works for you.
Moreover, the LIFX app offers advanced features such as scenes and effects. You can create custom lighting scenes that match your daily routines or special occasions. For instance, you can set a “Movie Night” scene that dims the lights and changes the color to a soft blue, enhancing your viewing experience. The app also includes various effects like “Flicker” for a candle-like ambiance or “Color Cycle” for a dynamic light show.
In terms of energy efficiency, LIFX smart bulbs are designed to consume less power compared to traditional incandescent bulbs. They offer a long lifespan, reducing the need for frequent replacements. This not only saves you money in the long run but also contributes to a more sustainable lifestyle.
The upcoming LIFX Candle Color and Z TV light strip are exciting additions to the smart lighting market. With their advanced features, seamless integration with major smart home ecosystems, and user-friendly app, they offer a versatile and convenient lighting solution for any home. Whether you’re looking to enhance your home decor, improve your TV viewing experience, or simply enjoy the convenience of smart lighting, these new LIFX products are worth considering.
