If you thought that the new Lamborghini Urus SUV was not fast enough, then the supercar maker has come up with an even faster version designed for racing: the Lamborghini Urus ST-X Concept.
The Lamborghini Urus ST-X Concept is 25 percent lighter than the standard SUV, and Lamborghini plans to race these SUVs in 2020. This weight reduction is achieved through extensive use of carbon fiber and other lightweight materials, making the vehicle not only faster but also more agile on the track.
Performance and Engineering
The Urus ST-X Concept applies Lamborghini Squadra Corsa’s motorsport experience to a brand new segment. Compared to the production model, the Urus ST-X Concept has been mechanically optimized and equipped with all the FIA-approved safety elements, including a steel roll cage, fire suppression system, and FT3 fuel tank.
The mechanical optimizations include a re-tuned suspension system designed to handle the rigors of racing. The vehicle’s aerodynamics have also been enhanced with a new rear wing and larger air intakes to improve cooling for the V8 twin-turbo engine. This engine is capable of delivering an impressive 650 CV and 850 Nm of torque, ensuring that the Urus ST-X Concept can compete with the best in its class.
Aesthetically, the Urus ST-X Concept is characterized by the matt Verde Mantis (green) livery in addition to the hood in visible carbon fiber. Larger air intakes optimize the cooling of the V8 twin-turbo engine that is capable of delivering 650 CV and 850 Nm of torque. The overall look is completed by the rear wing, the lateral racing exhausts with a new hexagonal design, and 21” single-nut aluminum alloy wheels fitted with Pirelli tires.
Design and Aesthetics
The design of the Urus ST-X Concept is not just about performance; it also makes a bold visual statement. The matt Verde Mantis green livery is eye-catching and unique, setting it apart from other vehicles on the track. The visible carbon fiber hood not only reduces weight but also adds a touch of high-tech sophistication.
The 21” single-nut aluminum alloy wheels are fitted with Pirelli tires, specifically designed for racing conditions. These wheels are not only lightweight but also incredibly strong, capable of withstanding the stresses of high-speed racing. The lateral racing exhausts with a new hexagonal design add to the vehicle’s aggressive look and improve exhaust flow, contributing to better engine performance.
The interior of the Urus ST-X Concept is stripped down to the essentials, focusing on functionality and safety. The steel roll cage and fire suppression system are crucial for driver safety, while the FT3 fuel tank is designed to prevent fuel leaks in the event of a crash. The racing seats and harnesses ensure that the driver remains securely in place, even during the most intense maneuvers.
